Join the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra for this entertaining family show about the life and times of musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Inspired by New Zealand author and illustrator Donovan Bixley’s literary picture book Mozart: The Man Behind the Music, the concert tells the great composer’s story and celebrates some of his most beautiful music.
Donovan Bixley will narrate the concert as guest artists Pasquale Orchard and Will King recreate moments from Mozart’s life, singing and causing mischief on stage. Think quirky costumes, extravagant wigs and maybe even a fart joke or two.
The orchestra will play some of Mozart’s favourite music including his Clarinet Concerto, Symphony No.40 and excerpts from his operas Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute. Donovan Bixley’s fantastic illustrations from his book will also be projected on a screen above the orchestra.
Bring the whole family to find out more about Mozart and his music!
