Elliott Street is perfectly placed in the heart of the city for some on the go eats or perhaps a leisurely lunch in the sun.
This year the street has become a mecca of delicious food stalls, with everything from tasty, free-range chicken to light and fluffy crepes and of course the requisite coffee cart (this one is unique for more than one reason) - whatever you're craving this is the spot to head to when you're hungry.
Here are the stalls that keep us coming back to this beautiful central city street:
Viet Sandwich
New to the street this season is Viet Sandwich, offering premium produce, succulent meat and fresh baguettes to city dwellers and visitors alike. Choose from a traditional Bahn Mi, a rice paper Summer Roll or a Noodle Salad and finish off your meal with a refreshing iced coffee.
Box of Bird, Elliott Street
This much-loved eatery offers sumptuous, nutritional and ethically-friendly takeaway food out of a big, clean and green box. The Box of Bird family (they have one other location on Commerce Street) are renowned for their free-range rotisserie style, chicken. All of their chooks come with mouthwatering flavours and spicing - Jamaican Jerk, Korean BBQ, Boaw Gravy, The Ponsy Coq (truffle butter) and the special baste of the week. Although the chicken at Box of Bird is out this world, there is a secret splendour to their light and tasty salads that are satisfying enough to enjoy as a main meal.
Stop by for lunch or pick up a whole bird on your way home.
Coffix
This is no ordinary coffee cart. Along with service and friendly chats with a smile, expertly made coffee and quality baking, Coffix have a fantastic draw card - their pricing. Purchase a regular coffee cup for $2.50 and order to your heart's content - 2 shots (3 even!), extra syrup, trim milk - it doesn't matter what your order is, the price will say the same - we think that's something to celebrate.
Delicious coffee at ridiculously affordable prices.
La Taqueria
Stop by this charming food stall for a flavoursome breakfast or lunch and be transported to Mexico with every bite. Isaac Delgato, the store's owner, comes from Guadalajara, Mexico and grew up around healthy, delicious and very flavoursome Mexican cooking. Isaac has brought his authentic tacos, burritos and nachos to Elliott Street with a lovely and experienced team. Their promise to customers is a happy and tasty experience full of colour and flavour.
The nachos at La Taqueria are a fiesta for your taste buds.
Waffle Supreme
We can't rave enough about this little red food stall on Elliott Street. These tasty treats are a great way to start the day, an easy choice for morning tea, a fantastic end of lunch dessert or the perfect pick me up after work - basically, we'd like to be neck deep in these waffles all day every day.
