On 21 June, its International Day of Yoga. We love yoga for what it does to our bodies; increasing flexibility, blood flow and muscle strength, improvements in balance and respiration, it boosts your immune system, helps you sleep better and makes you happier - what could be better? To celebrate international day of yoga, we've put together a list of the city centre's best yoga studios for you to explore and try out for yourself.

Studio Red's world class facilities specialises in hot yoga and offer classes in Vinyasa, Fusion and Yin Yoga as well as private sessions and meditation sessions. You'll feel immediately relaxed from the moment you walk into the beautiful studio which was designed as a modern sanctuary that feels more day-spa than fitness studio. Prices start from $30 for a casual day pass or $50 for a week of unlimited classes, there are also options for multi class and monthly passes to choose from too.

Auckland Yoga Academy | Federal Street

The Auckland Yoga Academy specialises in Ashtang and Hatha Yoga as well as offering meditation and mindfulness classes. Their large yoga rooms feature gorgeous Tawa wood floors with relaxing dim lighting making for the perfect setting to practice yoga. Passes at the Auckland Yoga Academy start as low as $49 for your first month or $29 for a casual class, but there are plenty of other casual, membership and introductory passes to select too.

Abundance Yoga and Pilates | Queen Street

At Abundance Yoga the core of their programmes and the foundation of their practice is Hot Power Yoga – a challenging vinyasa-style class heated to 30° C. Abundance aims to preserve the authenticity of the ancient yogic teaching and the original Pilates method and deliver them in a non-intimidating, results oriented format. Abilities of all levels are welcome and prices start from $20 for a day pass or $19.99/week for an unlimited membership.

Offering beginner to advanced classes in hot yoga hot HIIT yoga and yin yoga, Hot Yoga Works's studio heats up to 40° C for each class! The studio provides the perfect conditions and facilities for practicing Bikram Yoga a complete workout for the mind and body. For $40 a week, you can get unlimited classes in all of Hot Yoga Works' practices.
