This School Holiday season, Tākaro (play), create and reo with the family at Central City Library. All activities are free and no bookings required!

Adult supervision required and children under the age of 14 may not be left unaccompanied at the events. 

Portrait Collage with the Re-Creators 

Tuesday | 29 SEP | 2 - 4PM (Maker Space)

Create a unique portrait collage using paper, magazines and mixed materials! Explore shapes, colours and textures to design expressive faces. A fun and imaginative activity that encourages storytelling, creativity and artistic confidence. Suitable for ages 5-12.

Te Reo Games

Wednesday | 30 SEP | 2.30 - 3.30PM (Whānau Space)

Upskill your reo with the library's selection of games - Tākaro, Mū Tōrere and more. All ages welcome.

Te Miro Storytime

Saturday | 3 OCT | 11 - 11.30AM (Whānau Space)

Pukapuka and waiata with a focus on reo, this storytime is for all ages and all language levels.

Plant and Grow - Whakatō i nga kakanō

Sunday | 4 OCT | 2.30 - 3.30PM (Maker Space)

Plant some seeds to take home and grow. Suitable for ages 5-12.

Stamp Print Art

Wednesday | 7 OCT | 2 - 3.30PM (Maker Space)

Make stamps to create a piece of printed art. Suitable for ages 6-12.

Te Kura Maninirau – Māori Circus workshop with the Dust Palace

Friday | 9 OCT | 11AM -2PM (Event Space)

Explore Taonga Tākaro (traditional Māori games), as well as other circus activities such as object manipulation and juggling.

Scavenger Hunt

26 SEP - 11 OCT 

Scavenger hunt is available throughout the school holidays. Take the challenge and learn some kupu (words).

We the Young Kid’s Festival

Central City Library have also collaborated with Auckland Live to offer some free sneak-peeks at what is on offer from the We the Young Kid’s Festival. There will be special pop-up guest appearances from the following performance artists and activities in the library:

  • Kid’s Election Live from Aotea Square: Updates every hour (11am-3pm)
