Opera legend Gioachino Rossini’s awe-inspiring Stabat Mater returns to the stage for the first time in nearly four decades, performed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in Auckland—paired with a captivating world premiere.
Leading the performance is renowned Italian conductor Valentina Peleggi, celebrated for her dynamic interpretations of opera. The cast features three exceptional New Zealand vocalists: soprano Madison Nonoa, mezzo-soprano Anna Pierard, and tenor Filipe Manu. Joining them is acclaimed Australian bass-baritone Jeremy Kleeman, stepping in for Teddy Tahu-Rhodes, who was forced to withdraw.
Completing the ensemble is the internationally acclaimed Voices New Zealand Chamber Choir, who will also lend their artistry to Kelly’s evocative new work.
