New Zealand Dance Week

Whether you’re heading to work or out on the town expect to see a lot more dancing in and around Aotea Square as New Zealand Dance Week kicks off with another toe-tapping line-up this April.

To celebrate dance in all its forms Auckland Live, Northern Dance Network and DANZ have teamed up to offer a wonderful array of dance experiences to get the city moving.

First up, Aucklanders and visitors to the city will have the chance to hit play and shimmy as the incredibly popular Dance-O-Mat returns to Aotea Square from Saturday 14 April for a limited time only.

On Saturday 21 April, New Zealand Dance Week kicks off in earnest with Fidget Collective bringing their inventive, intergenerational and audience-interactive work Extra(Ordinary) Folk to Aotea Square for two free performances. The showcase continues with a range of different dance performances including hip hop, Pacific Island and Latin dance for audiences to enjoy.

The series of fun and free dance events continues on Saturday 28 April with the return of Chance to Dance at the Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall. Offering a host of free dance classes in a wonderful array of genres including contemporary, ballroom, hip hop groove, Bollywood and musical theatre, Chance to Dance is the perfect opportunity to try a new dance style no matter what your skill level or age.
