The National is making a grand return to New Zealand in February 2024, marking their first visit in six years! They'll be bringing their fantastic albums "First Two Pages of Frankenstein" and a delightful surprise called "Laugh Track" along with them.
This incredible band, already in the ranks of the world's best, is performing at their absolute best. Their ninth studio album, "First Two Pages of Frankenstein," released in April this year, features a star-studded lineup of guest musicians including Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sufjan Stevens. Critics are raving about it, with NME giving it a glowing five-star review, declaring, "This is The National at their very best."
But that's not all! They've also got a companion album called "Laugh Track," consisting of songs from the same recording sessions as "First Two Pages of Frankenstein." They've fine-tuned it during their live performances this year and it even features appearances by Phoebe Bridgers and Rosanne Cash. The band sees it as their most fun and collaborative album in years.
The National's music is a rollercoaster of emotions, from beautiful to painful, introspective to transcendent. Their repertoire includes timeless classics like "Bloodbuzz Ohio," "I Need My Girl," "Mr. November," "Fake Empire," and "The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness," and they've added some new gems like "Tropic Morning News" and "Eucalyptus" to the mix.
Simply put, The National are quite simply a magnificent band, and these upcoming shows will live long in the memory.
