Matariki is a special time of year during which we celebrate the rising of the star cluster of the same name.

Highlighting the main stars that make up the cluster, visit Takutai Square and Te Komititanga where a series of lightboxes will be on display with visual representation of the elements attributed to each star.

Pōhutukawa is the star that collects the wairua of our dearly departed while Waitā represents salt water and the foods that we find in the ocean.

Part of Matariki Taimoana.
