The festive season becomes the funny season as The Tuning Fork brings you our very special Xtra-large Xmas Fork ’N Funny Gala Night! With a packed line-up featuring six of the best comedians Aotearoa has to offer!

Turning ho ho ho into ha ha ha on December 16 are: James Nokise, Tim Batt, Laura Davis, Pax Assadi, Kura Turuwhenua and Ray O’Leary!

We're excited to welcome the one and only James Nokise, who has managed to squeeze this into his busy schedule. When he is not on the international festival circuit, he can be found on the nations favourite panel shows Have You Been Paying Attention? and 7 Days as well as hosting RNZ's Eating Fried Chicken in the Shower. This world toured comic has a reputation for going after everything from gangs, to politicians, to stereotypes within Pacific culture and cannot be missed!

Our MC for the evening is comedy veteran Tim Batt, Host of NZ’s most successful comedy podcast ever - The Worst Idea of All Time. Tim has had a distinguished comedy career - a previous nominee for LA Laugh Factory’s Funniest Person in the World competition and the inaugural 1Cover Comedy Competition champion. A viral star Tims set on 2020 Best Foods Christmas Gala garnered over 3 million views on TikTok and his podcast has been downloaded over 14 million times!

In a Fork ’N Funny first - Laura Davis becomes our inaugural international act! The Australian born comedian has made waves in both the UK and Australia. Her latest show If This Is It received widespread acclaim receiving a nomination for Most Outstanding Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Awards in 2022 as well as plaudits from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Kura Turuwhenua has only been on the Aotearoa comedy scene for just over a year but has already made an incredible impression. Winner of the 2022 NZ Raw Comedy Quest, this young crack up with a passion for dark and silly humour has a bright future ahead of her.

Regarded as one of the most exciting young acts in New Zealand by peers and audiences alike Pax Assadi has been leaving crowds in hysterics since beginning his comedy journey in 2012. Making the rounds on our favourite NZ television shows such as: Word Up, 7 Days, Crack-Up, and Brown Eye. Pax’s hectic blend of personal stories and insightful observations will leave you pondering life whilst curled over in a ball of laughter.

Self-described as a big brain in an ill-fitting suit, Ray O’Leary has become a staple of the New Zealand comedy scene with his deadpan delivery and awkward bravado which has left an endearing mark on audiences around the country. A regular performer and writer on NZ television staples such as 7 Days, Have You Been Paying Attention? and Jono and Ben. With his sold out shows during the New Zealand International Comedy Festival receiving rave reviews it’s now your chance to catch him this December at our place
