Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You, acts as a prequel to her acclaimed 2022 debut album Preacher’s Daughter, tracing the story of Ethel’s first love, Willoughby Tucker, and their sultry, emotionally charged romance. The songs span the full arc of her career, with some written during the earliest days of the Ethel Cain project and its evolving mythology.
Released in May 2022, Preacher’s Daughter was a multimedia masterpiece four years in the making, earning widespread acclaim from The New York Times, NPR, Vogue, W Magazine, V Magazine, and more—many naming it one of the year’s best. Since then, Cain has played sold-out shows and major festivals across the globe, walked in New York and Paris Fashion Weeks, collaborated with Givenchy, Miu Miu, and Calvin Klein, and shared stages with artists like Florence + the Machine and Mitski.
