Black Grace marks its 30th anniversary with a powerful double bill uniting the past, present, and future of dance.
Experience If Ever There Was A Time a world premiere by Founding Artistic Director Neil Ieremia, ONZM, performed alongside Paul Taylor’s seminal Esplanade, celebrating its 50th anniversary.
If Ever There Was A Time sees Ieremia embracing a new process: after three decades of meticulously planning every detail, he now enters the studio without a fixed blueprint, allowing the work to emerge through discovery, spontaneity, and surprise.
Esplanade is one of modern dance’s most iconic and influential works, and this season marks the first time a New Zealand company has been licensed to perform Taylor’s choreography. The result is a historic cultural collaboration bridging continents and generations.
Dynamic, diverse, and deeply moving, this unmissable experience celebrates Black Grace’s artistry and legacy while honouring one of modern dance’s greatest masters.
