On Friday 11 December Spark Arena is turning into a giant pub for one big night of pub rock when five of New Zealand’s best-known pub rock bands will flood the stage with beer spilling anthems.
You ain’t seen nothin’ like this unless you were hanging around The Windsor, The Mon, The Gluepot, The Hillsborough, The Angus, The DB Onerahi, The Fitz or a ton of other great pub gigs a few years back.
The bars will come onto the Spark Arena floor, the stage might just be a bit lower and the sound turned up loud enough to be the perfect tonic for the year we’ve been having.
The whole production will look like something that’s just stepped out of the eighties - big, bold, black but not very technical. Just “turn it on” and “turn it up”.
Slowly but surely, every few days over the next month, they’ll be announcing another act and each time they do, the ticket price goes up, so if you are smart you are going to get in quick.
As we know pub rock punters are extra smart.
Each fresh artist announcement will have limited tickets.
Cleverly and most tantalisingly, today, with no acts announced you can buy tickets exclusively through The Sound for $29.90 + bf but they ain’t gonna last long.
You get it?
