The Big Screen Symposium brings the filmmakers of Aotearoa New Zealand together for debate, discussion, information and inspiration.

The event is for all those who bring our stories to the screen: from directors, writers and producers to actors, editors and other technicians, to business people, distributors and film students. It presents a big picture of the world of film and television, a great networking opportunity, and a wealth of insights and information on the pertinent issues facing filmmakers today.

Delegates are immersed in two intensive days of conversations, masterclasses, workshops, panel discussions and case studies with a stellar line-up of local and international filmmaker speakers.

Tickets include full 2-day programme:

  • Friday: morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea
  • Saturday: morning tea, lunch

This event was rescheduled from April to October 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. If you hold a ticket for the previous dates, the following information will apply: 

All previously purchased tickets are valid for the new dates. For ticket holders who purchased a Full Price ticket between 31 January and 16 March, a refund for the difference in ticket price is possible up to 17 July. Any requests submitted after this date are unable to be processed.
