Central City Heritage Loop Walk

Are you curious about the city that you live in and wanting to see some buildings through a historic lens?

The Central City Heritage Loop traces the story of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s growth through its built environment. Explore some of uptown Queen Street’s most iconic buildings and uncover taonga from Ngā Pātaka Kōrero o Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland Libraries Heritage Collections that tell the story of the city’s layered past. There are 10 stops in this walk including iconic sites such as the Civic Theatre, Darby Building, the Strand Arcade and more.

Download the Walk Auckland app today and explore some of Tāmaki Makaurau’s history and heritage. The walk is titled ‘Central City Heritage Loop’ and each site is GPS mapped appearing on your screen when you are within the area of the site.
The walk starts at Central City Library, 44-46 Lorne Street, Auckland 1010. You can use the Wi-Fi in the library to download the Walk Auckland app and the Central City Heritage Loop walking tour.
