Taking place mid-winter every year, Matariki signals the Māori New Year and begins with the rising of the star cluster of the same name.

From June 19 to July 12 in 2021, Matariki was celebrated on the city centre's waterfront with over 20 special events and activations, from family-friendly festivals to large-scale art displays, installations, workshops, pop-up spaces and more. Stay tuned for what's to come in 2022 on our channels.
