The World Choir Games 2024 will be springing into action with a momentous Opening Ceremony at Spark Arena.
Join in to welcome choirs from all parts of the world to our Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland with a glittering flag parade of nations and a spellbinding show that weaves our varied cultural traditions and performance styles together into a dynamic story of collective singing.
From the first melodious bird calls echoing across the land to the arrival of kapa haka, choral song and the music of the many people who now call Aotearoa home, it is a story that binds us together.
Conceived by World of Wearable Art director Malia Johnston in collaboration with designer Rowan Pierce and composer Eden Mulholland, Kura Te Ua and Otene Hopa, this theatrical spectacular features performances by Ria Hall with haka dance company Hawaiki TŪ, Freshman’s Dance Crew, the Auckland Gospel Choir and Viva Voce, with more to be announced.
Enjoy this grand prelude to ten days of intense world-class competition, joyful ceremonies, stunning evening concerts, entertaining workshops, and daytime performances right across the city.
